Join us at 466 Dana Street to discover how homesharing works and how it could work for you. Learn how opening your home can generate extra income, provide companionship, support aging in place, and create more affordable housing in our community. Smart Share is a nonprofit housing agency that has been serving San Luis Obispo County since 2016, helping local residents successfully navigate homesharing with confidence. We look forward to sharing practical tips and trusted resources, connecting people who are interested in sharing their homes, and expanding housing opportunities throughout San Luis Obispo County.
Co-Living Community and New ADU Laws

Are you interested in community building and community living for enhanced lifestyle, family options, aging in place and wellbeing? Did you know that CA law now allows for 4 ADUs per residential lot? This means that you can create co-living NOW–without code changes, millions of dollars or miracles. Come join our Smart Share Team on May 19th for a fun interactive design workshop to explore together how this can work on existing residential lots now. We aim to provide technical skills, inspiration, introductions, and idea sharing between like minded community members and professionals. Free, although $10 suggested donation accepted. No RSVP required. Light refreshments will be served.
Monthly Tours
Step inside history and discover what’s next. Visit the historic Rosa Butron de Canet adobe at 466 Dana Street to explore the past, present, and future of the Waterman Village inclusive community site. Tours take place on the fourth Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. They are free and open to the public. Come curious, bring a friend, and dress for the weather as you experience this special place and its evolving story.
