When posting your listing online, the photos you include are often the first impression potential renters will have of your space. In some cases, the quality of your photos can make or break your ability to find potential housemates. The following tips will help guide you to include photos that will help you attract the renter that is right for you and your space while protecting your privacy.

Smart phones are equipped with cameras that were made to post images online. Your phone camera should provide you with adequate photos, so there is no need to use a fancy camera or hire a professional photographer.

Taking photos in the day time, with natural lighting, will create photos that are pleasing and showcase your space well. If photos are too dark, not only will it be less inviting, but potential renters may not be able to make out the details of your space.

Make sure you clean up your space before you take photos of it. Your space will present much better and be more attractive to potential renters if it is tidy.

Include photos of all of the private spaces and its different features. This may include entrances, closets, bathrooms, and private outdoor spaces such as patios.

You should include photos of the shared spaces as well. Any living spaces that will be available to both you and your future renter should be highlighted in your listing.

When taking your photos, especially ones outdoors, it is important to make sure your address is not being shown in order to ensure your privacy. And be careful when taking pictures that include mirrors.

People will stop scrolling if you include too many photos. We recommend you limit the number to around 10-12 photos that do the best job of representing your space.
