Humans have been living together in shared spaces since the dawn of time. It’s only been in more recent, modern history, that people got the idea that they should live in their own home with their nuclear family, or by themselves. But just because something has happened for thousands of years doesn’t automatically make it easy, or the right thing for any given person or situation.
Before making a decision about home sharing, it is essential to understand what homesharing is, and if it makes sense for you. The basic definition describes homesharing as sharing a home with non-relatives. This could be anyone from previous strangers to close friends or “chosen family.” And keep in mind that homesharing is not all-or-nothing. Some spaces will be shared and some will not, and it’s up to the home provider to decide. The great news is, there is a lot of flexibility in home sharing!
Our hope is that you will work your way through all our homesharing blog posts to arm yourself with the information you need for success! If that is your goal, please consider filling out several poll questions below, to better help us understand who we are helping, and how we can better meet your needs.
At the very bottom of each post will be a link to go to the next post in the series. Best of luck on your homesharing journey, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
